Things come and go, but one must continue to explore their curiosity, their values and strive for greatness despite all odds. Always progress and search and relish in the savory pleasures of life, otherwise you are not living a worthy life.

Re: Facebook’s biggest mistake with Snapchat

Snapchat is secure than facebook in my Point of view.

Re: Fixing Jetpack’s Stats module

I have a love-hate relationship with JetPack. Maybe Jetpack's servers ignore Twitterbot for metrics by default. But it doesn't hurt to have it removed from the data anyways. I'm not hurting twitterbot's ability to work, just jetpack's ability to see it.

Or am I? I'm not familiar enough with Jetpack code to saw for sure. There's no way for me to check what is being sent to jetpack servers. That's troublesome for me, if only because I'd love to know how to edit the data they use to calculate my visitor analytics.

Re: Fixing Jetpack’s Stats module

True enough. But I was surprised to see Twitterbot called out in this post because I have used Jetpack for years and I don't believe it records Twitterbot, which spends a lot of time on my servers. I would expect to see more reported traffic on some newer sites than I do if Twitterbot were triggering the Jetpack statistics. It might be worth running some experiments to see what can trigger Jetpack (I know the SEMalt bot does that). I'll have to think about that.

Re: Fixing Jetpack’s Stats module

well, the idea is not to block any bots but to make sure they don't show up in your analytics... :)

Re: Fixing Jetpack’s Stats module

Twitterbot is actually a good bot in that it needs to fetch the URLs for TwitterCards (enhanced Tweets for URLs on your site). If you do not use the TwitterCard markup then you can block Twitterbot in "robots.txt".

Re: कुक्कुराणां वनं

You can earn a few bucks too while translating from english to sanskrit

Re: Kill all the Uruks

heh... I've got 400 feeds, so I've not kept any space for a cron job, I just leave a tab of Fever open on Chrome on one laptop. That keeps Fever up to date... :)

Re: A brief update on Fever/AppFog

Hi.

I too host my Fever installation on Appfog, and also was initially worried about the restrictions.

I have two apps running on my free tier, one for Fever and one for cron updating. As you can see in the screen shot, Fever is *not* using many resources for me; just under 100MB of memory and under 10MB of storage. I have perhaps up to 100 subscriptions, but no more than that.

So I don't see why you couldn't just continue to use their free tier. It's still working great for me.

Cheers,

Re: To the hacker trying to log into my WP blog

Gud one khanne!!

Re: To the hacker trying to log into my WP blog

Good one sir g :D

Re: Temp

hehe...
